The Wenig Family Charitable Fund was founded by Cindy Wenig and her husband, Devin, to address issues of access and inequality in the United States. We support non-profits with strong leadership that use technology and/or artistic expression to level the playing field for America’s most vulnerable citizens.
Cindy Wenig
Cindy is a former corporate attorney who pivoted to criminal justice advocacy three years ago, inspired by her teenage daughter’s interest in reducing prison recidivism.
Cindy’s legal career began as a summer associate at Chadbourne & Parke LLP in New York City, where she worked for 18 years, becoming a partner in the firm and the leader of its first Women’s Committee.
Cindy later served as General Counsel of Apollo Real Estate Advisors, a private equity real estate firm based in New York City.
Her past volunteer endeavors have included serving as pro bono counsel in connection with the rebuilding of The World Trade Center, WX Women in Real Estate and improving the quality of free meals in public schools. Cindy is on the Leadership Council of Beyond Type 1, a national advocacy organization supporting those with Type 1 diabetes. She is a recipient of the Lawyers Alliance for New York’s Cornerstone Award for excellence in pro bono work.
Currently, Cindy is a Board Member of the Prison Journalism Project which trains incarcerated writers and publishes their work. In addition, Cindy is an Advisor to Ameelio, a non-profit with a mission to make prison communications free and is an informal advisor to JobPath, an online platform connecting military veterans with employment opportunities.
Cindy graduated summa cum laude from Princeton University with a B.A. in Politics. She received her J.D. from Columbia Law School.
